Here& #39;s some fresh imagery (dtd 10/13/2020) from the shipyard where China is building its first full-size, home-designed supercarrier (pictured in upper half).

Shown here in comparison with the latest under-construction US CVN (USS John F. Kennedy, pictured in 2018, lower).
By my measurements, when added up the current 5 hull sections come out to about 285m in length so far (about 935 feet), and a beam (width) of about 40m (131 ft), which is about the same as the waterline beam of the Ford Class CVN - 41m.
*I& #39;m no naval architect*, but given these dimensions I& #39;m guessing that the common estimate of 85,000 tons for the Type 003 is probably a bit low, with an eventual size probably closer to that of US supercarriers. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷‍♂️" title="Achselzuckender Mann" aria-label="Emoji: Achselzuckender Mann">
Also, here are shots of what looks like at least 8 more destroyers & cruisers under construction at the same yard.

I have to say that for a country that& #39;s supposed to be focused on info warfare, & which has made "legacy" platforms obsolete, they sure are bending a lot of iron.
There& #39;s another ship under construction at the area where they first assembled the carrier& #39;s modules, but it& #39;s unclear what it is. It& #39;s not another carrier, as the beam is only about 30m, but also too big for a DDG/CG. Could be a merchant, or maybe something else. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🤷‍♂️" title="Achselzuckender Mann" aria-label="Emoji: Achselzuckender Mann">
In the meantime, here are shots of at least 8 more destroyers & cruisers being built up the coast at Dalian (images from 8/2020):
