I'm starting to get the idea that magnesium is a damn wonder drug. I've learned that Mg deficiency can contribute to high blood pressure; cardiac arrhythmia, including prolonged QT syndrome; vasculitis; anemia; seizure; and altered mental status. Heck yeah, I'll take supplements!
Notes - First, I'm not an MD, obvs. Second, the list above is from my history. Two hospitalizations, both times my Mg was really low. I'm surprised I wasn't advised to take supplemental Mg; I asked. It's such a low risk, high benefit choice. And it apparently affects everything.
The other thing that surprised me is - with as much blood work as I've had done in the last 3 years, they've only tested for Mg a couple of times - when I was in crisis. Seems like it ought to be on a routine blood work panel.
Finally, goes with the "I am not an MD" thing, I don't take anything without consultation and approval of my vast team of docs.
