✚ A Guide On How to Properly Treat Your Wounds ✚
It was a rough night and we had a pretty nasty cutting session. . .what now?

✚ STOP THE BLEEDING ✚

≔ Apply Pressure! Whether it be a: paper towel gauze, or a cloth towel, we must apply pressure and prevent bleeding out.
✚ ELEVATE THE WOUND ✚

≔ Due to the blood flow of the heart, elevating the area where the laceration is will help prevent bleeding out.
≔ For your arm, raise it up while applying pressure, preferably higher than your chest. For your legs, try to prop it up on a pillow.
✚ CLEAN THE WOUND ✚

≔ Wash out your wound in the tap water or with a sterile saline. Keep applying pressure in between washing!
≔ Neosporin and Petroleum jelly (Vaseline) are good products to rub over the injury in order to keep it hydrated and clean.
✚ COVER THE INJURY ✚

≔ This will both assist in applying pressure and keeping the cut clean. NON-ADHERENT DRESSING!! I cannot stress this enough. The petroleum jelly will assist in lubing up the wound as to keep it from sticking to the dressing.
✚ AFTER CARE ✚

≔ Especially for deep cuts, re-applying dressing and consistently cleaning your wound will only help it heal properly and reduce risk of infection. If you can removed a dressing without the wound bleeding it's time to let it air out and scab up!
✚ SPECIFIC SCENARIOS ✚

≔ We've covered the basics of treating a wound- but it's important that we cover ALL types of wounds. Many of us have different preferences on cutting which requires different treatment.
✚ HITTING BEANS ✚

≔A slang term for cutting so deep you hit fat is called "hitting beans." Here, you will need a closure. The scar will never heal properly without one. I recommend butterfly closures or steri strips! You can get them at a convenience store for pretty cheap.
✚ MULTIPLE CUTS ✚

≔Some of us prefer quantity over depth! or maybe a bit of both. In this situation, cover as much surface area as possible with your jelly. Then take as many gauze as you need to cover them. Afterwards wrap your arm up with an ace bandage!
✚ ALTERNATIVES ✚

≔MANY materials in this thread are not easy to come by! Some are hard to acquire without looking suspicious and others are down right expensive. So here's other materials you can use!
✚ PAPER TOWELS/TOWELS (GAUZE) ✚

≔Lets say you don't have gauze in your household or available. Apply multiple layers of paper towels/towels to your wound into order to get the affect on gauze. It soothes your pain if you wet it with luke warm tap water.
✚ HAND SOAP/JELLY ✚

≔Most hand soaps are Anti-Bacterial! I recommend an unscented one but what matters is disinfecting the laceration.
≔Petroleum Jelly will be your best friend when it comes to making sure you wounds don't stick! They can be as cheap at $1.99!!
✚ DRESSINGS ✚

≔ Band Aids, Gauze, Ace Bandages, etc. The list goes on. Some of these aren't easy to come by, especially as teens. But having STERILE medical equipment is crucial to having a good recovery.
✚ THANKS FOR LISTENING ✚

≔I am in NO WAY promoting that people harm themselves. Instead just spreading information on how to take care of yourself afterward. Sometimes the wound is more than we can handle and PLEASE seek emergency help if needed.
