The village sat peacefully beside the river, the cottage one of a handful of homes huddled round a village green.

Village is a place where you can find peace, unity, strength, inspiration & most importantly a natural and beautiful life.

The wedding was held on the green beside the cottage. The whole village came to celebrate.

After the wedding there was music, dancing, drinking and laughter.

They lived quietly amongst friends in a beautiful place. The seasons passed peacefully.

A newcomer moved into one of the cottages. Known to the police. Owner of knives, fists and an attitude. Persecuted and drove out his immediate neighbours then spread his abuse wider.

The assault, when it happened, was swift and shocking. Afterwards the intimidation escalated.
It was homesickness.
I longed to be transported into that quiet little landscape, to walk up the path, to take a key from my pocket & open the cottage door, to sit down by the fireplace, to wrap my arms around myself and to stay there forever.
