Let me put this across firmly

I have nothing against Arnab. I dont watch his channel or his debates (Which I consider is a disgrace to journalism in any case. This applies to all the other News Anchors too, not just Arnab)

He is the owner of Republic TV 1/n

He is well within his rights to run the Channel as he wants, outrage, bully, shout, run motivated campaigns, support certain causes and oppose certain causes to increase TRP Ratings which will bring him Ad Revenue. It is how the business is done. No issues 2/n

I do have objections to his running a motivated campaign against Kanchi Shankaracharya in the Sankaram Murder Case, in which he was later acquitted and going against the Hindu Sentiments on the Sabarimala Woman entry issue. I have again no objections to his taking a stand 3/n

But running an agenda driven campaign for a few TRP Rating points hurting Hindu Sentiments is not acceptable to me and he had to face the karma phalam for both the cases which he is facing now 4/n

Arnabs stand on various issues is not because, in my opinion, of conviction but convenience. That is fine by me. It is his channel, and he can do what he wants

But that doesnt make him Pro BJP, or Pro Hindu. The clamour that he should be supported because of that is silly 5/n

Just because he took up few popular causes, rightly or wrongly,doesnt give him carte blanche with respect to protection from any legal/judicial action

Just because UPA Government and Judiciary gave unfair decisions in certain cases doesnt mean it should be expected for Arnab 6/n

We elected BJP to fix all these, and not to apply the same rules from Tweedledum to Tweedledee.

We accuse Left Libtards of abusing the Judiciary when they dont get a verdict they like. Pray tell me what are our people doing now when Arnab is denied the bail? 7/n

Having said this, I do agree that UT and MVA is carrying out a vendetta against Arnab and Republic which has to be condemned in no uncertain terms. But that should have been anticipated by Arnab, which he didnt. 8/n

He perhaps thought he wont be touched because of his prima donna status - a grave error of judgement on his part.

I dont know, and am sure most here, about the facts of the abetment to suicide case for which he is arrested and the Charges filed. 9/n

I hear cries that the reopening of the case was illegal but I understand proper procedures were followed, unfortunately. It is why he has not been able to get judicial relief so far. To attribute motives that even the HC is out to get him is taking things too far 10/n

This is a criminal case. We have a Federal Structure where L&O is a State Subject. We need to respect that. To ask Central Govt to harass others as a tit for tat is just not on. And they shouldnt. 11/n

The fact Arnabs case is led by Harish Salve shows he is getting the best legal advise.

I dont think we are in any position to comment on Legal Strategy as we dont have the domain knowledge nor the expertise.

All everyone is doing is doing selective reading and outraging 12/n

Another theory is that Arnab's arrest affects FOE. The fact that everyone and their mothers are tweeting here without fear is an indication that FOE is intact. FOE also comes with responsibilities. It doesnt give people right to abuse constitutional authorities or anyone 13/n

Arnab and Republic are milking the situation to their benefit, which is not a crime. They are the affected parties, they have a channel and using it to their advantage.

I have nothing against twitteratis who support Arnab. Your tweet your opinion. 14/n

Many famous personalities have been arrested and kept as undertrials. No harm has come to them. So to shout from rooftop that Arnab will be eliminated inside the jail, and hence he should get bail, is juveline to say the least 15/n

Arnabs only way out is through the Judiciary whether anyone likes it or not. If he takes a stand that his arrest was illegal and hence he wont apply for bail, then that is his prerogative. If he doesnt get bail, he can escalate the issue to SC 16/n

What I dont accept is FOE will die if Arnab is not released, he is pro hindu, pro bjp, nationalist, his father was a Colonel - hence he should be released arguments. Or because of twitteratis. We outrage against privilege culture but ask the same now. Shame 17/n

See - at the end of the day Arnab is just like you and me, an ordinary citizen and any relief that is due to anyone of us from the judiciary will be available to him

He is lucky as he can afford Harish Salve.
