Our Consortium program is brand new but we already have membership from individuals and/or departments at UC Boulder, Bates College, Macalester College, Washington and Lee, and Wofford College. We have interest from other schools but I can't name them publicly yet. :)
So... what do you, your faculty, and your students get when your department or institution joins?
(1) Training webinars on theories/subjects relating to social justice, including Black studies, gender theory, race theory, action research, and a broad range of other topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
(2)Training webinars on methods for researchers, instructors, and students on techniques such as data scraping, data curation, visualization, data coding, and more.
(4) A limited number of free registrations at the annual QSIDE Data4Justice Conference, and member pricing on additional registrations.
(5) A community of scholars and activists to engage for cross-disciplinary collaboration that powers social justice research-to-action efforts.
(6) Priority for your students for QSIDE internship positions. While the number of internships varies year-to-year, we anticipate a minimum of between 4-6 internships available each year prioritized for consortium members. https://qsideinstitute.org/fall-2020-fellows/
(7) External funding services. We will locate potential external funders who might support your QSIDE-related work, and we will, if you wish, draft a proposal for you (with you as a PI, and with your input, of course).
(8) QSIDE internal micro-grants. YOU CAN LITERALLY ASK US FOR THE FOLLOWING THINGS:
(8a) Student research funds to support project completion.
(8b) Publishing fees to enable open access publishing for broad accessibility.
(8c) Manuscript drafting/editing to speed dissemination of results. Yes. Literally, if you send us your results and an outline and say "I don't have time to write this up" we will attempt to draft a manuscript for you. We are also happy to edit papers that you draft yourself.
(8d) Interactive data portal construction to enable visual storytelling for the public. That's right. We believe in data transparency, and we will build an awesome data visualizer so the public can explore your data and results.
(8e) Publicity for your work. We'll do our best to try to get the word out!
We are excited to partner with more institutions to form the QSIDE Consortium. If you are someone empowered to make administrative decisions and you want to join, email [email protected].
If you are excited about the consortium but not yourself empowered to join, please consider bringing the idea to your department chair, dean, Provost, or institutional Equity/Diversity/Inclusion leaders.
The Consortium membership fees help us offer the many programs mentioned above, but of COURSE, we prioritize access, so membership grants are available. Again, just inquire at [email protected]. And please spread the word by sharing this thread!
