Meanwhile in the Arctic, peatland wildfires have been raging all year. A major concern is & #39;zombie& #39; fires that smoulder at depth over winter, then spring into life.

This year the burning season started in May above the treeline in Siberia, normally it& #39;s in July
Meanwhile in Indonesia

Tropical forest & peatland areas larger than the Netherlands have burned over the past five years.

Particularly worrying, as this is a man-made issue & is degrading peatlands at an exponential rate
This Wikipedia page on global #wildfires in 2020 is far from complete, but is a terrifying reading all the same.

I took a look through the @guardiannews tag on wildfires for the year to date.

Unsurprisingly, majority of the content is reporting on Australia & the US, with occasional articles on Arctic & Indonesia.

The only mention of Africa is on Mt Kilimanjaro

This is a worrying trend with all major news outlets & I feel should be addressed.

Here is the current #widfire situation in Africa today.

Maybe some feedback from @dpcarrington would be in order ?
