(Thread) @McDonaldsUK have closed their toilets to @UberEats @JustEatUK @Stuart_Delivery drivers across the UK.
It& #39;s a major problem for couriers and it& #39;s against HSE guidelines.
If you& #39;ve been denied access by Mcdonalds as a courier, please fill this out

Having left my previous full time job in December 2019, Uber Eats food delivery has been my main source of income. Due to work that I do in the mental health field I need a job that is flexible in terms of when I work. Uber Eats is perfect for that.
Although the lack of toilets whilst working has always been a problem, it was never bad enough to stop me working.
When the first lockdown hit on 23 March 2020, work became very difficult for me.
Public toilets in both small businesses and large businesses were shut for the public and drivers. Due to the lack of work in my area, I always travel 6 miles to work in a different area (either Central London or Enfield).
During lockdown, due to how quiet it was, I would typically stay in the same area. Sadly, all the businesses either don’t have public toilets and don’t allow us to use their staff toilets or, worse, they closed their public toilets.
This meant, for my entire shift at work, I had no access to toilets.
Finding somewhere discreet to relieve yourself in Central London is far from easy; especially as a female. Once I found somewhere, it would take me 5-10 minutes to gain the courage to alleviate myself.
There were times where I felt I had no other option other than to ask a local A&E. Whilst this is far from advisable in the midst of a pandemic, I felt I had no other option. Thankfully 2 out of the 3 times I was allowed (each time I was in a different area).
If I was on my period, it would be impossible to work and I’d have to take a week off.
Having a part time job delivering food on behalf of a restaurant and the stress the lack of toilets was causing, I ended up giving up working for Uber Eats in May.
Between May 10th and September 24th, I worked a total of 5 days (22 hours).
Since the 25th, I’ve slowly started working for Uber Eats again, due to my financial situation.
Sadly, the 24th of September was the date that Boris Johnson said that restaurants must shut at 10pm for customers. In the area I know work (Enfield) all my orders are from McDonald& #39;s. From 10pm, there have been no access to toilets for myself and all the other drivers working.
Mcdonald’s staff have said they’ve been ordered to close their toilets at 10pm.
In other McDonald’s, we’re not allowed to even enter the building at night.
For some, this is due to COVID. For other branches, they say it’s due to their licence not allowing the public in the premises after a certain time of night- we are not the general public; we are contractors delivering McDonald’s food.
Since the lockdown on 5th November, McDonald’s have permanently closed their toilets.
I am unable to work in my area due to the lack of work.
Even if I was to work in my area, there is no guarantee I will stay in my area, with it being common to end up in different areas, especially on a busy shift. With the example of the night of Halloween, I ended up 18 miles (1hr) away from where I started work
(I started work in Enfield and I ended up in Bermondsey).
With McDonald& #39;s orders making up the vast majority, if not all, of the deliveries that I do, the lack of toilets has made it very hard for me to work.
McDonald& #39;s need to reopen their toilets for drivers 24/7 to allow drivers like myself to continue delivering their food, whilst able to maintain our hygiene.
