“Martin Eden” is a a novel about a young writer.

The most important aspects of the novels are:

1. that the protagonist is an autodidact
2. the novel is a “Künsterroman”
3. he is suffering from a writer’s block

So what does that mean? (1/?)

1. An autodidact is someone who learns without having a master or any form of guidance from others.
They’re completely self taught tho they might’ve received some sort of formal education before.

Autodidacts typically choose the subject they want to learn themselves. (2/?)

2. A “Künsterroman” is a story about an artist and their self growth, their path to maturity.

3. The protagonist in the story suffers from writer’s block.

So I think it’s only logical to assume the theme of the album will be about the boys themselves. They will talk about themselves, how they grew up & their journey until now.

album, similar to Spinning Top so I’m assuming the songs will mainly be written by the boys.

The concept of self growth and their path to maturity also fits with the childhood pictures Mark & Jinyoung posted.

4. An important part of the story is also his love for Ruth Morse- which is Eden’s main motivation.
Ruth eventually rejects Eden as she grows impatient while he struggles to achieve success despite Eden promising her it would come eventually.

Ruth probably symbolises Ahgases.

The boys have talked about their fear of losing us multiple times. While we were waiting for the comeback announcement they kept asking us to wait as well.

And as usual for an artist, we- the fans- are the source for their motivation.

So I don’t think we’ll get cock music

for this comeback- maybe as a b-side but the main theme will be much deeper.

What I also found interesting is that the author states that he wanted to criticise Nietzsche’s Individualism in the book by showing that the main character relied on him- but he stated that nobody caught up on that.
So I think the album might contain a lot of self criticism too.
