I walk away from degrees the same way I walk away from grudges - I don’t.

But I am applying for a 6 month time extension for my PhD submission because flipping heck what a messed up year to try and produce a thesis ay.

A PhD is essentially a research project that you design, lead, complete, & write up (under guidance of formal supervisors) - it requires deep thinking & lots of dedicated time - so when your personal life is significantly impacted, your project inevitably is too & that's okay.

Asking for an extension is the kind of thing I could do & absolutely keep to myself. But one of my primary reasons for being on social media is to share (and normalise) my pathway in the academy. People gonna struggle, there are supports when that happens, it's good to know that.
