It's a lot easier to sound good, if you're telling a lie.

There's a reason novels sound so much better than, y'know, real books. They are lies. (Sit down, novelists. Yes, you made a choice between telling the truth and sounding good, and you chose the lie.)
And then there's the right-wing media echo chamber that elevates those lies like gospel.
