Hard agree. We've seen what happens when we take the conciliatory/let's unify approach with people who wouldn't extend the same to us and, in fact, want us subjugated or dead: it was called The Obama Administration. Many good things happened, yes, but more could have been done. https://twitter.com/S__Baksh/status/1325412740446425088
My goal is not unity. My goal is the deplatforming of dangerous bigots *as a start*. My goal is eradicating the cultural elements that make people who would oppress or harm marginalized people think it's okay to do so.
My goal is a progressive nation that actively works toward eliminating anti-Blackness and other forms of bigotry and oppression against marginalized people in our laws, in our societal structure, and in our education. You can't control what's in people's hearts and minds, sure.
You can make this place unwelcoming to them. Make their ideas distasteful and harder to spread to the next generation. We can take away their power and their prestige. We can make it so the very idea of being a white supremacist/Nazi is seen the way we see puppy kickers.
That doesn't happen by being nice to MAGAs. That happens by openly disdaining them, which is what I plan to do for the rest of my days. Cuz their entire idea of life is not just some difference of opinion, it is dangerous, harmful, and has no place in society.
