Other artists would reinterpret the series in exciting new ways, as early as LttP's comic (manga legend Shotaro Ishinomori) & player's guide, but these original pieces — cels from an anime that might exist in a better timeline — build warmth, appeal, & drama from little sprites.
I would pay a significant sum of money for any one of these.

I know they're probably buried in a Kyoto warehouse, but if any art collectors' uncles work at Nintendo...
Kotabe would revisit a lot of his old illustrations for the GBA remake, and while the warmth and texture of photographed cels is unfortunately lost in the transition to digital illustration, his characters have much better form to them while retaining that cool, early 90's look.
