Been thinking a lot about what it means to build a coalition for the common good, even when you won’t get everything you want.

I spent much of yesterday fuming at liberal yt women since they are the primary beneficiaries of the work that Black organizers and leftists put in.
That part is really frustrating.

And then all the liberals who have thrown us under the bus. That stinks too.

And then all the liberals and progressives who started trashing the south. That one definitely stung.

This isn’t me whining, I promise I have a point.
I’m not here to sow division. I end up walking a fine line between Black radicals, white anarchists, Black liberals, Indigenous Peoples, and white folks who are just showing up and trying to figure it out.

That’s a pretty big tent, I think. Maybe my perception is skewed.
We have wildly different lives, goals, ideas, and needs. I want to respect that.

And all of us hitched our wagons to the democratic party’s horse, because frankly it was the only one going anywhere remotely close to the direction we need.
A bunch of us do not do respectability politics. White liberals — the ones with the resources — believe civility still matters. They want the rest of us to shape up and start behaving.

Black Dems don’t do respectability politics but they are in the trenches so they don’t have to
I absolutely adore this motley crew even when y’all piss me off and go after each other. It feels like family in a lot of ways.

But we have to be able to work together over the longer term. We don’t have a cohesive message or even a 5 year plan that I am aware of.
We’re kind of being forced to do this together. At this rate I fully expect the next challenger will be a full blown segregationist who will win the EC and the popular vote. Right now that doesn’t even feel like a stretch. It’s just the current trajectory.
Personally I’d love to get to the point where we aren’t having to fight the same basic stuff (are we sure all citizens should be able to vote?!) for decades on end.

But we aren’t gonna get there unless a lot of us with disparate goals can figure out how to show up together
