1. Korean digital charts are dominated by girl group songs. The first male idol group to dominate the digital charts is BIGBANG. This group is also referred to as the "nation's girl group" as a joke.

2. Bigbang is the first group to start writing and producing their own music. G-Dragon is the first idol to do so. Before writing your own songs became the norm in the K-pop industry, most of the first groups didn't actually write their own songs

because their agencies preferred to do it the songwriter way. After songs like "Lies", "Last Farewell", "Haru Haru" written and composed by Gdragon they had huge hits; the agency started giving their idols the opportunity to write their songs.

3. Bigbang is the first to have an official lightstick. G-Dragon designed it. Since then all kpop groups and agencies have followed suit and now each fandom has their own lightstick. Bang Bong is the first lightstick in Kpop history.

4. The first idol group on a large-scale world tour is BIGBANG. Kpop groups are generally able to tour in Asia. BIGBANG is the first idol group to tour outside of Asia. Alive Galaxy Tour estimated 800,000 fans worldwide attended the tour in 2012-2013

5. TOP is the first underground rapper to become an idol in kpop.
TOP is known by his stage name as "TEMPO" as a well-known underground rapper. One of his most famous songs is "Buckwild" which is a collaboration with NBK Gray. G-Dragon contacted TOP and took him to a YG audition

6. Bigbang is the first boy group to dye their hair in unusual bright colors such as pink, blue, neon green, orange. As expected from a trendsetter, G-Dragon made it a trend; starting from blonde there is no color that he hasn't tried yet.

7. Bigbang is the first group whose members have had solo music careers without disbanding. Before bigbang, groups always disbanded or members just walked away if anyone wanted to pursue their own career.
