If you know someone who is grieved that a white supremacist fascist lost the presidency, it's not time to comfort them. Resist that impulse. Oh, I know it's strong but don't give in. It's feels Christian but it's not.
It's actually time to embrace a theology of discomfort and invite them into that. It's time to see this moment through the axiomatic lens that God comforts the afflicted and afflicts the comfortable.
If anyone can "support Trump" comfortably after his reign of terror on black and brown and immigrant lives, then discomfort is a severe mercy...
...and an invitation into proper alignment with a reality of neighborly love that moves people to see their connection to others beyond the color line or beyond the boundaries of their own self interest.
