One of the most painful things about being a black leftist is knowing that the history of black liberation is the history of American socialism, and yet seeing people like Hakeem Jeffries and Jim Clyburn centered in an effort to completely erase our past.
It hurts to know that nearly every civil rights leader was an open socialist, and yet you never hear about it. From Robeson to MLK to Carmichael to Davis, movement leaders were either killed, exiled, or completely absorbed into the fiction of liberal centrism.
We won the Civil Rights Act, the Voting Rights Act, and the end of Jim Crow, by forcing moderate Democrats to do things they claimed would lose them seats. It's just that the price we paid was the death of the Civil Rights movement, and its total historical whitewashing.
