“I started off as in intern in the Production Office on Toy Story and was eventually made a full time Production Assistant. I generally supported the production with anything they needed me to do.
This included getting lunches, setting up meetings, and helping out in departments like Editorial and Art. But the coolest part of my job by far was when they trained me to be one of the projectionists! I got to run film dailies for the last month or so on Toy Story.
I’m very proud to have been part of the original Toy Story. That sense of pride was amplified as we wrapped things up with Toy Story 4, on which I was one of the producers. I’ve been around the Toy Story characters for over half of my life, and they are like family to me.
Even though Toy Story was the first film I’ve ever worked on, there was a sense that we were working on something special. There was an energy in the air and an excitement that is still hard to describe.
I remember seeing the finished film for the first time about a month before the release, and thinking about how much the audience was going to love it.
Currently I’m the SVP of Film Production. A very cool role, but maybe not as cool as it was getting lunches on the original Toy Story!” – Jonas Rivera, Production Office Assistant, Toy Story #ToyStory25
