Biden isn't even POTUS yet & already the ‘he-isnt-a-proper-Catholic’ takes have started rolling in. Trump has just been POTUS for 4yrs representing a party reliant upon the votes of white protestants & not one right-winger cared whether he was a ‘proper Presbyterian’ or not.

Trump was a deal-maker & his relationship with his white evangelical base was as transactional as any of his other business-dealings - vote for me & I will deliver socially conservative SC Justices. Whether he was a ‘proper Presbyterian’ or not never came into it. No RWer cared.

When the party of white protestants have a serial adulterer & amoral champion in the White House, thats fine. But when a Democrat who claims to be an RC is in the WH we need to have a deep theological debate & discussion about canon law to parse whether he is a ‘real’ RC or not.

Xtians on Twitter are not representative of Xtians in general & its just as well. Xtians on Twitter seem very quick to excommunicate Biden for not being sufficiently ‘pro-life’ enough for their liking whilst being very quiet for 4yrs about the amorality of the previous incumbent.

The Churches are dying. Both Catholic & Anglican. You should be happy that a POTUS (the most powerful political figure in the world) openly declares his faith but instead you’ve got your theological callipers out to measure the size of his commitment to the minutiae of canon law.
