boy I would love it if facebook and twitter didn't show me the interactions of people I am friends with/follow with people who I am NOT friends with/don't follow, because that second ring of people is where I'm seeing all the boneheadedness
idk if I see a take that's like "guess it's a crime to celebrate being white again!", like 1) yeah, and?, 2) I can see approximately 3 dozen pictures of you at local St Patrick's Day and Oktoberfest celebrations, maybe seems like no one's oppressing you for being Irish or German
there's some good thread I can't find now about how it is, in fact, cool and good to celebrate Irish culture and German culture and Polish culture and Italian culture, even and especially in the American diaspora, but celebrating being "white" is bullshit and fake
and how insulting it is to flatten those rich and diverse histories and cultures into one generic "whiteness". polish history is not the same as irish history is not the same as italian history.
I love going to the Polish Easter market, and Celtic Fest, and the German Christmas shops, and the Italian Heritage Festival! those things are great! so when people are like "guess we can't celebrate being white!" it's like no, you just can't celebrate being a white supremacist!
if the only thing of value you find in these histories and cultures is their perceived whiteness, maybe! just maybe! you are a scumbag and a shithead and should die in a fire!
