Last night—in Wilmington, DE—as @JoeBiden spoke to Trump voters about coming together as a nation, I heard someone in the crowd say, “I’m not there yet.” Throughout the crowd I could hear similar words echoed. #BidenHarris2020 Thread 1/7 https://twitter.com/marc_damico/status/1325230476970389505
“We’ll get there, we’re just not there yet.”

It wasn’t until that moment that I understood the true magnitude of the trauma we’ve experienced from 4 yrs with the Trump Administration.

“I feel like I just took a deep breath for the first time in four years.” 2/7
This was a hard won fight. Give us some time to rejoice in this moment and start healing ourselves before demanding we be the ones to try and heal the deep divisions in our country.

The argument that we should reach out and
3/7
embrace the people who enabled the past four years of trauma,
particularly those who voted for another term, is both dangerous and destructive.

Everyone deals with trauma differently. For some that might mean reaching out to Trump supporters,
4/7
For others it might mean ending relationships with them. AND BOTH ARE OKAY.

I want to look back on this moment in history and remember the joy and hope for the future.

Last night the world was filled with tears of joy, singing and dancing laughter, and LONG overdue deep breaths. The fight is not over by any means. But we can finally start to breath and “we will get there, just not yet.” 6/7
Take some time, breath deeply, and prepare yourself for the fights that we still have before us.
