Listen. So the reason I'm being annoyingly supportive of my new Chinese series is not only because I really enjoyed it, but also because of the difficulties it faces from the get go.
From the inevitable censorship that both the gore and specially the gay romance will face//
//to unknown degrees, not only by "principle" but by law, to the prejudice that some people have against it because *insert Drumpf's voice* China, to the weebs who react to it by getting unreasonably defensive of Japan and "true anime", to people saying they can't watch until//
//the series get a JP dub (even though they often speak neither language...) to the multiple technical issues they have encountered while trying to bring it to the west (funimation.exe, subs for ants, multiple delays, the plagiarism incident -->emergency OP editing)
///
// Needless to say, it haven't been a smooth launch.
But despite all of that, you can tell how much time, effort, resources and care the staff is pouring into the project.
I'm not gonna say that tgcf is an unique never seen before story (which is also its strength////
I'll get to that...) And you can criticise some technical/narrative aspects about it.
But what I really don't want to see is the whole thing tanking because some openly homophobic/misogynistic copy pasted reviews on the main site.
So I guess my only advice is
If you're already a fan: watch it legally, leave your review on your available platform, interact with official anime accounts that talk about it.
If men™ are angry about women enjoying things, let the views and fujobucks speak for themselves//
//Chinese merch is more affordable than JP one at least at this moment, even taking in count the cost of a proxy shopping service, so you might consider the upcoming 11.11 discounts in several CN stores to get lots of hualian stuff//
