A reminder for everyone in the cheap seats.

Brexit was never really about sovereignty, or taking back control, or giving more money to the NHS, or immigration, or any of the bullshit reasons that have been trotted out in the last four years.

It was about taxes.
Specifically it was about the EU moving to adopt measures to close the five most commonly abused measures that wealthy individuals used to avoid paying their taxes.

This did not go down well with Rees-Mogg, Banks and Farage (and all of their cronies).

That’s it.
That’s why they have a tearing rush to get out of the EU as fast as possible. That’s why the push for No Deal (because every version of the deal so far as included being bound by those revised tax laws).
Brexit is about very wealthy people panicking about becoming slightly less wealthy people - that they might actually have to contribute to a functioning society rather than pile up even more money.
The fact that they’re dragging down the U.K. with them - they don’t care. Because they stand to make more money from the smoking ruins (see: disaster capitalism).
As a counterpoint to this thread, a BBC article fact-checking the tax avoidance claim.
