I see some people are still very attached to the idea that Trump will go into hiding, rather than lashing out at the people he feels has wronged him. It is *possible* but it's a silly thing to assume as likely.

There are many ways for a president to exact revenge on various cities and states during dark times. Remember all that PPE the feds seized last spring? How would that hit during the second wave? Y'all think Trump's gonna be too sad and defeated to do some more of that?

Someone just said he has no leverage. Wow, we are in for a rough couple of months. I'm sorry some folks don't understand the power he still wields & will wield, because people really need to understand the damage he can do on his way out the door. We need to be bracing for that.

For one thing, the eviction moratorium expires on January 1. That's more than two weeks before Biden takes office. A total housing breakdown in the dead of winter at the height of the second wave. That alone is leverage ffs.

And no, I don't think Biden will offer salvation from the housing crisis, but I also don't think he will want the eviction crisis to immediately go off like a bomb at the height of the second wave bc he won't want to further destabilize the country he is taking control of.

And that's just one bit of leverage. There are a million things. Trump may be a whiny bitch who can't face the cameras right now, but he's still the most heavily armed man in the world. We would do well not to forget that.

You know the old joke that when a narcissist is drowning, he doesn't yell "help, I'm drowning," he yells, "the world's ending!" That's Trump. He's drowning. But instead of just getting pulled under, he has two months and every weapon in the world to wield before it's over.

Downplaying what Trump is capable of right now downplays the need to prepare, and to protect and defend the vulnerable people he will grind under. That's not acceptable. So stop doing it. Gloat about him being powerless when he is actually powerless.

Btw "Declassify everything" is a threat. It's more of that leverage some ppl say Trump doesn't have. Trump could just start declassifying shit. He would be aiming to vilify the Dems, but he could also destabilize things that the Dems & U.S. intelligence don't want destabilized.

You and I may not care about intelligence networks being disrupted or whatever else, but I can say with absolute certainty that the Dems care about preserving this country's intelligence apparatus, and about keeping its secrets under wraps.
