What a week it's been in Philly and Pennsylvania. Please indulge me for one sappy-ish thread highlighting some of the behind-the-scenes work of my fabulous @PhillyInquirer colleagues. 1/thread
First, so much of our prep & coverage has been guided by @Elaijuh's months of voting reporting and analysis. It's been invaluable. What ultimately happened - close race, days of counting, all eyes on PA - was something we've known was a strong possibility for a long time. 2/
The live blog you all were reading was tirelessly helmed by @RobTornoe and @LMcCrystal. It was one of the highest-pressure jobs in our newsroom this week, and these two were thoroughly unflappable on the keys. 3/
We had 24/7 coverage this week, and @RobertMoran215 kept our live updates going in the wee hours. In a week when anything could happen at any time, there's no one you'd rather have as your overnight watchman. 4/
Our politics team has been doing incredible on-the-ground reporting across Pennsylvania all year, and this week was no exception. @JuliaTerruso @sbcmw @AESteele @Calefati and others have made sure stories include voices from across our divided state. 5/
Meanwhile in Philly, @anna_orso @oonagoodinsmith @erinK_mccarthy @EllieRushing @samanthamelamed @juliana_f_reyes & more, incl. seemingly the entire photo staff, have spent countless hours on the streets, talking to voters, protesters, & celebrators. We have to drag them home. 6/
For the big-picture view of what's happening in PA and why it matters, you won't find anyone more authoritative than @JonathanTamari and @AndrewSeidman, whose clear writing brought perspective with deep PA expertise. 7/
We've had a ton of reporters contributing to our live blog, jumping on anything and everything. @esilverman11 @jasmlaughlin @aubreyjwhelan @ByChrisBrennan @jeremyrroebuck, among others, pivoted constantly this week to keep our live coverage up-to-date with rapid-fire news. 8/
The amount of info and reporting coming into our Slack channels was insane. @McDanielJustine and @woodt15 did masterful jobs taking it all in and writing thoughtful, definitive stories that captured it all, on tight deadlines. 9/
You won’t see their bylines anywhere, but @mollyeichel and @Inky_Dan moved logistical mountains to make coverage fast & comprehensive, while operating on little sleep and being incredibly supportive to everyone else. Their enthusiasm, energy, and high standards set the tone. 10/
If you thought the Inquirer’s homepage looked better than ever this week, you’re right. That's the work of @LexiBelc @JS_Parks and too many producers to fit in a tweet, who have worked at all hours to put http://inquirer.com 's best foot forward on this crucial news week. 11/
This was a newsroom-wide effort, & there's a LOT of folks I've neglected to mention. But we do stuff like this all the time! We cover politics and breaking news year-round, not just Election Week.
