CEO @alisongcpag's statement on this news: "We warmly welcome the DWP announcement this morning to commit an extra £170m for local authorities to support families with essentials this winter & we hope that with use of their discretion more cash assistance will become available. https://twitter.com/CPAGUK/status/1325343652420476929
"The extension of school holiday programmes to more children is also very welcome. But when it comes to tackling child poverty in a lasting way, families need more secure incomes to keep their heads above water.
"The Government can best achieve this through the retention of the £20 increase in #UniversalCredit and through restoring the value of children's benefits such as child benefit and child allowances in UC.
"These, together with the removal of the #TwoChildLimit and #BenefitCap would begin to reduce child poverty and remove the need for emergency aid."
