It makes sense to advise people to engage Republicans respectfully as part of a political strategy to change their votes, but to lecture people about how they should behave toward Trump supporters in their personal lives is astoundingly insensitive.
If a stranger is reluctant to forgive a family member for their Trump support, before scolding them maybe pause to reflect that they know that person and you don't
When someone is cutting off contact with a parent for supporting Trump, please be aware the Trump support was not the first time the parent put a foot wrong.
Basically when you're scolding people for not being nice enough to the hardcore Trump supporters in their lives, in a lot of cases you're really scolding them for finally establishing boundaries with an abusive person.
