I have returned from a visit to the Fox News site, where I went in an attempt to empathize with the other side.

They don't want our empathy.

In fact, they are pretty upset that after 4 years of them extending a hand to us, we turned around and bit it like this. (THREAD)
The headlines were fine. The articles themselves weren't factually untrue, but had some weird spins and interpretations.

The comments, though.
If you thought the number of foreign trolls on WaPo and similar was bad, you should see the troll activity on Fox. Many aren't even bothering to hide the fact that they don't speak English or used Google Translate. And why bother? No ones calling them on it.
Then you have the Actual Americans, many of whom also demonstrate grammar issues, but the usual native ones.
The overall gist seems to be that, because they didn't just shoot us or put us in camps, we should be grateful. "I will never again reach out a hand in friendship,"
wrote one, "All I got was stabbed in the back." By, you know, a democratic election.

I don't know what your experience has been, but I did not feel that Trump supporters or even the GOP Senate was reaching out a hand in friendship at any point.
Empathy report: the persecution complex is real. They really only grok violence as a conflict resolution method. They wanted to do much worse over the past 4 years, and (despite holding both chambers) blame "the liberals" for it not happening.
They are confused and scared and there are many calls for violence.

Expect the radicalization efforts to escalate. Check in with your children who go online. What memes are they seeing? What are their friends saying? Work with police to prevent/punish hate crimes. (FIN)
