Alright educators, parents, women, this is a failure of education and curriculum.
NO ONE should be flocking to SUSAN B. ANTHONY'S gravesight to celebrate the election of this (Black) woman as Vice President.

It's deeply offensive in its ignorance & ahistorical. Heres y: #Thread
We know that THIS election Biden/Harris win was due to the organizing and voting behavior specif of Black women/ppl. The VP is a Black (& Indian) wman.

It is a historical fact that Susan B Anthony is NOT a hero of suffrage/voting rights for Black anybody.
https://www.history.com/news/suffragists-vote-black-women
Now, your girl Susan started off kinda alright. She was the daughter of abolitionists and you can definitely find a quote about how she'll stand for the enslaved woman blahzay blah. lol

But she turned on them when that grit hit the griddle for the 19th amndmnt.
And when that 15th amendment came into play? Whew, honey! They were TRIGGERED. Let's just say things got exceedingly loudly anti-Black racist exceedingly fast. Anthony's suffrage bff, Stanton:
Not only did Susan B. Anthony ultimately not champion Black suffrage, she did not win us (Black women) the right to vote.

Black women did not receive suffrage nationally w the passage of the 19th amendment. WHITE women did. https://time.com/5876456/black-women-right-to-vote/
American Blck wmn still could not universally exercise (in some states rly didnt even have) the right to vote in the NINETEEN SIXTIES.

Whatchu think King n nem were marching to voting places for? Black ppl dying, homes burning and being hung over voting for?

They COULDN'T vote.
Do you understand what that means for say ppl over the age of 35 or 40?

Year 2020 White women voting history: maybe a grandmother, but mostly your great or great great grandmothers couldn't vote.

Year 2020 Black women voting history: some of our MOTHERS couldn't vote.
SU SAN WHO?
You wanna thank somebody for this election of the first woman Vice President (who is also Black)? You wanna remember somebody?

Sojourner Truth
Anna Cooper
Ida B Wells
Fannie H
Shirley Chisholm

Find their graves. And honor the living Black women who made it happen.
(There's so many problems w this one little #NYT blurb, i.e., "female".🤦🏾‍♀️)

Susan B?
To celebrate Black-father-Indian-mother-having Kamala Harris' election as VP?
In an election where 55% of White women voted for Trump?

Susan did a lil somethin but this is not the time nor the place. lol

Chile, please.
An addendum to be clear:
There were SOME Black women who began voting w the 19th amendment but it wasn't universal, national or a huge # of Black women.

Nevertheless, KNOW Fannie Williams and Mary McLeod Bethune who worked to get BW registered in 1920! https://twitter.com/Wheeties83/status/1325504979226996736?s=19
Though I feel like "many" does some heavy lifting here when compared to the number of Black women nationally who were not able to register to vote or cast ballots, this is very critical history- that there absolutely were some Black wmn who voted in 1920.

You know Stacey Abrams.
Make sure you know the originals.

Black women like Fannie William's and Mary McLeod Bethune (here) faced the violence of the white citizenry, state violence and the KKK to register BW and prepare BW for the arbitrary voting tests and get poll taxes paid.
