When people advise "just" cutting off family over political divides, they ignore the disabled people who depend on caretakers and, frankly, who aren't ALLOWED to make more than a certain threshold or their benefits get wiped, but it's not enough to live on on its own.

They also ignore kids in school who have nowhere to go while they finish their education.

And queer kids who'd struggle to find housing, particularly trans kids.

Elderly people... who depend on family to get around.

Absolutely challenge damaging rhetoric, but understand that for a lot of Americans WHO DID do "the right thing" with their votes, they can't "just" do anything like write off their families.
