This is Bob. Bob voted for Trump. This is Sally. Sally keeps telling Bob she doesn& #39;t want to talk about politics because she knows she and Bob disagree, but Bob keeps sneaking in little digs and asides.
Bob has been like this for years. Bob uses the N-word under his breath watching basketball. Bob refers to female newscasters as bitches and ranks them according to fuckability. Bob thinks "Green Bay Fudge Packers" is a funny joke.
Whenever Sally speaks up, Sally& #39;s derided as causing trouble and not understanding that Bob is a product of his time and reflects the world around him. Nobody ever considers that Sally is also a product of her time. Sally leaves the room, over and over, for years, when Bob talks.
Bob watches a black man become president and puts noose stickers on his van. Bob watches a woman run for president and refers to her as a cunt. Bob shows Sally racist memes on his phone at Christmas dinner. Sally, once again, tells him she& #39;d rather just NOT, okay.
Sally is exhausted. Sally& #39;s getting an ulcer. Sally drinks too much at parties where she knows Bob will be.
Bob& #39;s friends tell Sally he& #39;s changed. Bob& #39;s friends tell Sally she should forgive him and reach out to him and empathize with him because he& #39;s lost so many family members and friends due to his racism and homophobia. Bob disowned his gay son and called his liberal sister a twat.
Sally has fucking had it with Bob and his "jokes" and his persistent creation of an atmosphere of menace for her in spaces where she should feel loved and accepted. Sally tells Bob just one more time that she& #39;d prefer not to DO THIS, okay.
