The TLDR with voice training is that you’re exercising muscles in your throat for a desired result. It takes time, discipline, practice, and awareness. You can injure yourself if you overpractice, so you need to know what you’re doing and why. I’ll dig up some research on this
You DO NOT need to do voice training sessions with a professional voice therapist FYI. I feel like they’re a waste of money unless you’re a professional singer or speaker. I was broke when I transitioned, knew a ton of trans women who did them and just weren’t pleased.
There are many theories and practices for vocal training. I think Ada Han’s is best. Watch her videos first, she goes into training as a hybrid, multi-structured act
As for myself, I spent about a year practicing regularly: first at home, then in day-to-day use. It took time. I recorded myself, practiced near-daily (with rest when it hurt!!!!), and kept at it when I felt discouraged. It’s a skill and an exercise. It takes a lot of time.
The most important step for me was a) recording my voice, and b) using a voice analyzer. The former let me track progress over time and reanalyze speaking patterns. The latter let me see if I was hitting my ranges
I practiced my voice through a couple of ways:

a) Phrases I felt comfortable saying and saying over a lengthy period of time (ie recording myself saying something like “Yeah, I’m not so sure about that” over months)

b) Singing in the shower at a higher tone (I once did chorus)
