This administration may also want to spend some time teaching those who are reflexively skeptical of systematic racism what the term actually means and how it manifests.

Lots of otherwise decent people balk at the idea of implicit racism and diversity as a (partial) corrective. https://twitter.com/MiddleEastEye/status/1325437052415057923">https://twitter.com/MiddleEas...
Here& #39;s an illustrative anecdote.

I recently had an appt. w/ a particularly gregarious physician who regaled me with tales of his high profile patients. At one point, he mentioned a job he applied to early in his career that asked how applicants added to the center& #39;s "diversity"
He conveyed his dismay, both at the time and to me in the office, that this would even be a consideration. "Don& #39;t they understand that doctors treat all patients equally?"

This genuinely well-intentioned doctor couldn& #39;t wrap his around why it would matter that he& #39;s a White man.
Well, the thing is, doctors don& #39;t treat all patients equally.

The American College of Physicians notes that there are meaningful racial/ethnic disparities in care, even after controlling for income and insurance access. https://www.acponline.org/acp_policy/policies/racial_ethnic_disparities_2010.pdf">https://www.acponline.org/acp_polic...
I don& #39;t think my doctor had any ill intent in making his comment on diversity. More likely, no one ever took the time to explain to him why diversity matters.

Let& #39;s not assume that everyone has taken a course on critical race theory and instead meet them where they are.
