At some point people have to think about what it means that over 70 million people voted for Trump and that a lot of white people were undecided until fairly late in the game.

Analyze the America that exists. It requires understanding those people aren’t a blip.
I’m more firmly convinced now that Black voters in South Carolina knew exactly what they were doing and weren’t wrong to make the assessment they made.
We have a lot of work to do, and it starts locally.
I think people need to be suspicious of the idea that we can make a giant ideological leap forward in a national election when we haven’t even bothered to make it happen locally. There are 70 million+ people opposed to the national leap.
And it’s not because the Democrats and others didn’t spend enough time sucking up to white people lol. Lincoln Project ran that experiment for us and it failed. https://twitter.com/ibjiyongi/status/1325429882655006720
Time to pay attention to the voters who show up, to increase their ranks by increasing voting rights and access, and start develop local models that point to another way of doing things nationally. Time for a better bottom up politics.
If you’re wondering what models I like, I think @WVCantWait should be studied very very carefully.
When I say this, I mean that a lot of people are very committed to what Trump stood for. We need to get past the narratives that these voters just don’t know what they’re doing. They knew who he was. https://twitter.com/ibjiyongi/status/1325427199701291008
A lot of the talk about poor white voters was, among other things, incredibly condescending
Another model and organization that should get more attention is @UniteThePoor! It’s wild to me that people are ignoring this national multiracial, multiethnic coalition. Their work is just as important as the BLM orgs that big corporations pretend to care about.
I know that the social media flow is such that people who write things like what I’ve been writing are labeled as being too invested in the establishment but look past the details and see people are trying to figure out how to get there — even if we disagree on how.
And it’s FINE to disagree on the strategy.

But make sure you have one that isn’t just wallowing in how messed up everything is and judging other people for talking openly about how they’d like to respond

Don’t be too woke to function.
