I offhandedly mentioned Chris Antonetti potentially leaving after Buster Olney suggested him in a piece. Now Rosenthal has put not only Antonetti in print, but Chernoff too.
The Cleveland front office has been a target for many teams over the course of the past 20 years. When is the move coming that is the straw that breaks the camel’s back? Are we at the precipice? Does Antonetti want to leave? Does Chernoff? Does it matter?
This worries me far more than Lindor. With the managerial job in flux, with the team’s face of the franchise likely moving, with the club facing a potential overhaul, and with one of the two front office heads maybe in the crosshairs of a big market team with money to spend...
...might Cleveland be facing a complete change in philosophy at the top? It would be a massive mistake in my opinion, but I might just be making a mountain out of a mole hill. I wonder if Chernoff is thought of as the heir to the throne of Antonetti leaves?
Carter Hawkins has been with the team since 2008 after graduating from Vandy, and has been running the player development side of things. Forman has been with the club since 2013, and was a journalism major out of Northwestern, plucked from Baseball America.
He’s from the scouting side of the coin.
Sky Andrecheck has been with Cleveland since 2010, and was bumped to assistant GM last year, I think in an attempt to keep him around. He’s most definitely on the analytics side of the coin, and a former writer at SI. His articles are interesting, although that was 10 years ago.
The cupboard seems full...
