I had a convo with several folks a few weeks ago about Kendi addressing (or not) some of his critics ( @StrangelEdweird, @chrismunce, @NewLiberalsPod, @Texaggie79, @xavierbonilla87, @dperkinsed).

Here is a clip from a recent talk he did at Harvard about this issue -

The thread centered on Coleman Hughes' open letter for debate.

My claims were:

(1) Debates are counterproductive (especially given Hughes' views of Kendi's #antiracist work)

(2) If folks *truly* wanted to learn about Kendi's arguments, he has plenty of content online

My belief is that the call for a debate is not really to learn anything.

The idea is to *expose* Kendi for the suppossed charlatan he is, and this is better accomplished by another black person to elide accusations of racism.

In any case, for people who *actually* want to learn more, here is the full lecture and a fairly critical Q&A at Harvard's @HutchinsCenter.

Distinguished scholars Henry Louis Gates, Cornel West, and Abby Wolf were also a part of the discussion.
