I am, in fact, willing to forgive Trump supporters.

All they need to do is:
1. Acknowledge what they did was wrong
2. Show they understand why it was wrong
3. Make a genuine attempt at restitution for the harm they have caused
4. Present a plan to do better in the future

Nobody owes anyone forgiveness or understanding, especially if that person has done real harm.

Forgiveness is never an obligation. It must always be earned through penitence and restitution - and even then it is up to the people who were harmed, not the one doing the harm.

Another way to put this:

Granting clemency to people who have bought into a politics and philosophy that says you deserve the fruits of whatever terrible acts you can get away with is only reinforcing their bad behavior.
