Invasion Day (Jan 26th) wasn’t an appropriate day to ‘thank the Firies’ for their work fighting the climate driven disaster fire season in 2020, and it’s not the day to ‘thank the pandemic heroes’ in 2021. Scott Morrison needs to recognise it’s a day of mourning & stop the games.

I understand that the current Australian Prime Minister is obsessed with marketing spin & announcements, but how about he shows leadership & appreciation by funding services appropriately, listening to the science of climate change, & considering that mob are also pandemic heroes

It’s bad enough that he’s so forceful with Jan 26th as is. But National Thanksgiving (way to signal your USA obsession) for pandemic heroes on that day is grosssss. Indigenous communities also deserve recognition for their handling of covid, and our day of mourning ain’t it.

It’s almost like he’s trying to trauma bond people to that date. Many of the living generations recognise a) the date has changed numerous times b) it’s a new holiday c) it’s problematic af to truth telling & d) we don’t owe greatness to invasion & forceful tactics of the colony.
