It's been a hectic year but in the midst of it all, I want to celebrate a young man that has inspired me this year.
Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba.
The first day you walked on stage with your bulbs, I was like, who is this one again?
#HappyBirthdayLaycon
I watched how you were in your corner observing while others were getting to know eachother. You looked lost like a needle in a haystack. But you were someone to look out for.
Then the second day you rapped who is Laycon and you made everyone sing along to "Fierce" and I saw your alter ego pop out and that got me hooked
But the most captivating for me was when I listened to all your songs, then I realized that you're not just a musician, but you have a sound mind and it reflected in your music.
I remember tweeting "Laycon is deep and I like deep"
When I completely got hooked was when I found out you're a reader, and that's why you could easily transition from one conversation about the Roman empire or the British monarchy to telling details about animals copulating in the wild.
I saw your old tweet on books you just got
But then the emotional rollercoaster began and two seconds, everything burst!
This street was hard. I found myself saying silent prayers, I'll be like God can you please slap this boy's head for me?!!!!
I hated when the camera came on you too often. I'll be calling all the angels from Africa, from Uganda, from Ghana, from Mali, even the ones in Jerusalem. Edakun angel Gabriel and Micheal epp me whisper to this my pikin oooo
I saw the gift and talent you have, and the embodiment of grace that you are, and I needed you to snap out of the emotional dilema and show the world your gift. I needed them to see beyond the handicapped cupid arrow, I needed them to feel your soul
And then one blessed day, like an answered prayer, you flipped the switch and put your bulbs on again, not physically but mentally.
You came to being the LAYCON i believed in.
You were like;
You showed Africa and the whole world that you're flawed just like everyone else but you're outstanding. You inspired both young and old, your story was and is still very relatable, you bore it all without holding back, you let the world see you and judge you
And you never stopped letting the world see that unlike your size, your mind is like Mt Everest, no wonder some people couldn't get it, they expected you to act small, speak small and expect small, and even though you ate small, 🙄 you didn't stop blowing our minds
Like a pheonix, you rose!
Agbeleshebioba! You showed us that you're a king, a god in a human body and no one can stop you
They had to tell you to scream when you were declared winner because you didn't see it coming. Listen, you were made for this, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
Everyone can't like you and that's okay. Feed off the love you get from your icons and stay grounded with God
Your dreams are valid and you're just getting started.
May God cause the road to be slippery for those who want to be on your way and may you climb to the pinnacle of success.

Happy birthday Conny sir!
NB: I hope Nigerian youths get inspired by your reading culture and understand that your smartness and versatility is as a result of what you feed your mind.

I used to be an ardent reader too but motherhood happened and I stopped, you reminded me about myself
So I've started reading again. I'm reading the Nigerian constitution now and I implore all Nigerian youths to do the same and empower themselves.
