The content post-season one was a massive step up for me personally, each character became massively more interesting, and the dynamics between characters became much more captivating and unique post-moon. The exposition on the world and Kongo, in particular, was astounding...

It was Phos (will refer to as her) who was the catalyst for this shift in opinion, originally her mental deterioration felt extremely shoehorned for me in the beginning especially in the anime, however, afterwards the fleshing out of her character became extremely compelling...

especially after the Lapis transplant, her character became much more complex and layered with the dichotomy between her love and distrust for Kongo, as well as her growing relationship with the Lunarians, all these relationships and the faltering of her psyche lead to...

such interesting plot progression, especially with her, now broken relationships with those who stayed, especially Cinnabar and Bort, the difference in character between the Phos we see at the start and the Phos now is extremely sad and painful to bear witness to.
