Jennifer lives in Boone County, like me. Presumably, this means she’s also aware of how these machines work, since they’re what we use.

I would hope she knows the green button doesn’t reject a ballot, it confirms the ballot should go through if there’s, say, an unmarked race. https://twitter.com/esqonfire/status/1325235318614847489
This isn’t to say errors can’t happen with one of these machines. But the nuances of how these errors occur makes the situation far more complicated, and likely less favorable to a campaign if things get revisited.
When a ballot goes through one of these machines, usually, no intervention is necessary at all. But I suspect a lot of people are getting very confused by the idea of a secret green button someone helping them submit their ballot may have pressed.
Did they just not notice? It’s green, after all! Green means go, and their ballot got read!

This kind of confusion is a convenient fringe benefit of the way surveys and news stories about this lawsuit work. People are now questioning their own memories of the voting process.
