Dave Grohl is such a phenomenally awesome person.
I liked him/the Foo Fighters well enough growing up. One of my earliest memories of MTV is the "Big Me" video.
Then I met my spouse who loves Nirvana like I love Coheed. He& #39;s taught me about Dave Grohl and my appreciation is always growing.
For one, he& #39;s a pillar of music history. Dave Grohl is grunge.
He& #39;s also incredibly respectful and grateful to be a part of that history -

Here& #39;s the trailer for a documentary called Sound City, about a recording studio where numerous hit records were recorded. After its closure, Dave buys some of its equipment and records on it with other artists who& #39;d recorded at Sound City.

(Oh, yeah, Dave directed and produced the documentary).
As a social science/library and information science person, as well as a music fan, this reverence for music history is just... dreamy.

Also, he says & #39;fuck& #39; a lot. I know this isn& #39;t exactly a deep or good reason, but it& #39;s absolutely endearing. I tried to find a video of it, but nothing good turned up. But seriously, he says it SO much.

His mom wrote a book about raising musicians (very relevant to my interests), and my very favorite musician mother, Mary Morello, has a chapter.

I almost forgot about Sonic Highways! The Foo Fighters wrote an album on which each track is inspired by visiting 8 cities, including post-Katrina New Orleans. HBO made a documentary and again - the reverence for music history! For other humans! Just amazing.
This thread brought to you by, obviously, the Foo Fighters on SNL tonight. Their song choices - "Shame, Shame" and "Times Like These" - were (obvs) intentional and appropriate.
I love moves like this because I imagine it resonates with my husband - my white cishet husband.
