I got my first COVID-19 test done on 6th November 2020, since my parents and I thought that it’d be better if we were on the safer side because I had fever, a bad throat and cough. (1/n)
I hadn’t been out of the house for good 20-30 days, and the only point of contact/carrier could have been my father since he was visiting the hospital regularly since my grandfather was unwell. For him, the symptoms were more ; he’d lost his sense of taste/smell. (2/n)
So going ahead with it, me and my father got the test done on 06/11, for which the reports came the very text day.

The test was RTPCR and NOT antigen/rapid. (3/n)
Our reports stated that, I am COVID-19 positive and my father is COVID-19 negative which was obviously logically a little hard to digest, so we still maintained all isolation procedures because my symptoms were improving. (4/n)
And for my father, he had started to feel a lot better anyway because of the paracetamol doses he was having + the home remedies. With all of us isolated - me, my father, my mother and my brother - we didn’t know if I was positive or negative for the virus. (5/n)
So yesterday itself, we called a private lab for home collection following all safety protocols from both the sides. I had been continuously monitoring my fever and oxygen levels. I had fever between 99-102 F° on 06/11 and later not even that. (6/n)
The reports for my SECOND TEST came this morning it clearly stated COVID-19 NEGATIVE. (7/n)
KTA :
• If at all you feel there are any symptoms and getting a test done is absolutely necessary, and if you think private labs are better, since they send the reports quicker i.e within 24 hours, then PLEASE GET THE TEST DONE TWICE.

(8/n)
• The government funded tests via arogya setu, are almost accurate but the test reports take good 4-5 days to come during which your health could both get better or worse ; which extremely dicey.
(9/n)
• DO NOT go for a rapid/antigen test. The results are literally just 50% accurate. It’s plain wastage of money! RTPCR at the same time is still considered a more accurate method competitively.
(10/n)
• Please DO NOT trust a single test report. All testing labs at the moment are working on a money making model because a test costs 2000₹ and they know as to how a patient will come back anyhow to get retested, hence paying all over again. (11/n)
• We have winters ahead of us, which clearly increases the risk of the virus to enter our systems. PLEASE STAY INDOORS! PLEASE. DONT BE IGNORANT! (12/n)
“Yaar kitne hi din tak ghar pe rahenge? Kabhi toh bahar nikalna padega” - BUT PLEASE DO NOT MOVE OUT UNLESS IT IS ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY.

Your Starbucks runs can wait! Your Khan Market strolls can wait!
Your health cannot.

(13/n)
Staying cautious and vigilant at this time is all the more important! If you see any symptoms, please don’t be ignorant about them. And just do not forget about the people who are asymptomatic.

STAY SAFE! (14/14)
