For the entirety of my voting life, the Democrats have courted and coddled rightwing voters, while condescending to and kicking the left.

Unfortunately, I have little hope that this pattern will change under Biden.

Whether the issue is universal healthcare, police and prison reform, climate change, ending endless wars, or addressing income inequality, I fully expect the Democratic establishment to continue to treat left-wing activists and advocates with a mix of scorn and indifference.

Trump& #39;s election was the culmination of decades of Republicans& #39; authoritarian tactics and rhetoric and Democrats& #39; abandonment of the working class for neoliberal pursuits of free trade and triangulation tactics aimed at winning over conservative voters.

I hope Biden& #39;s election won& #39;t lull a sizable portion of liberals into thinking the country is back on track, as Obama& #39;s election did. Our country is severely wounded after 4 years of Trump.

Getting him out of office staunched the bleeding, but we are far from recovered.

I am deeply worried that Biden, same as Obama, will tell the country that we must "Look Forward," and eschew prosecuting Trump and his enablers for crimes they committed while in office.

This was one of the most disastrous decisions of the Obama administration because it essentially placed a seal of bipartisan approval on some of the worst policies of Bush and Cheney.

It denied our country the opportunity for some much needed truth and reconciliation, and ultimately led directly to Bush 2.0, my nickname for Trump. If denied that opportunity once again, I am certain that we will see the rise of Bush 3.0 (or Trump 2.0).

My role as a movement journalist will be the same under Biden as it was under Trump. I will be amplifying the voices of marginalized activists and organizations looking to apply pressure to the Democrats for substantive change.

The challenge will be reaching True Blue voters who believe that any criticism of Biden helps Republicans, a phenomenon I recall well from Obama& #39;s presidency.
