Ok, while the last multitude of days have been crazy and unpredictable, we now can focus on sports again. UNM football is playing Hawaii, and I shall be creating another thread for the @DailyLobo's coverage.
By the way, while this is meant to be a thread about sports, some might want my opinion as to what has happened over the last few days in America.... here you go: https://twitter.com/kylegriffin1/status/1325284447726395392
With that out of the way, kickoff is about to happen. UNM will recieve the kickoff.
Well, that was quick.... UNM has scored a touchdown of a Tevaka Tuioti pass to Jordan Kress for 52-yards. Extra point is good. Lobos lead 7-0. Their is 14:19 left in the first quarter.
Hawaii is having a methotical drive, which is now at the UNM 35, defense is once again a concern for the Lobo's this evening.
The Rainbow Warriors have scored a touchdown on a rushing touchdown by Chevan Cordeiro. Score is now 7-7. UNM will get the ball back. Their is 10:21 left in the first quarter.
The Lobo's are putting together another strong drive together. The UNM offense is at the Hawaii 30-yard line.
Alas, the Lobo drive stalls out. But, UNM was able to kick a filed goal, which was done by George Steinkamp, which makes the score 10-7, Lobos. (by the way, forgive my misspellings and poor grammar. I am tired mentally from this week.)
UNM has picked off Cordeiro, with Jerrick Reed II returns the pick to the 30-yard line. The Lobos are in buisness. Then the next play Tuioti hits Kress again for another touchdown! UNM is now up 17-7 with 4:10 left in the first quarter.
UNM has forced a three and out from the Rainbow Warriors, which gives the Lobos the ball back with 2:15 left in the first quarter.
Another big play for the Lobo offense with a Nathaniel Jones run for 41-yards. UNM is at the Hawaii 30-yard line.
We begin the second half with the Lobos most recient drive stalling out. But another field goal pads the lead to 20-7 in favor of UNM. Their is 14:50 remaining in the first half. Hawaii will now get the ball.
Another three and out for Hawaii has forced another punt back to the Lobos. This game could get out of hand really quickly.
UNM is having another strong drive, with the Lobos being at the 50-yard line.
However, the drive dies at the 50-yard line, and the Lobos have to punt for th first time tonight. their is 8:18 left in the first half. Hawaii has the ball.
A forth and one has kept the Rainbow Warrior drive alive, as they seek to get back into this game.
And now Hawaii has scored on a Cordeiro pass to Nick Mardner for 42-yards that makes the score 20-14 Lobos. Their is 3:55 left in the first half. UNM will get the football back looking to extend their lead.
Despite my previous claim, UNM did not extend their lead, in fact the ywent three and out, and have punted the ball back to Hawaii. Their is 2:02 left in the first half.
Cordeiro throws a pass to Nick Mardner for 42, putting the Rainbow Warriors in buisness to take the lead before the end of the half.
A huge momentum play to end the half, as another UNM interception keeps Hawaii of the board. The score as we go into halftime is Lobos 20 - Rainbow Warriors 14. Hawaii will get the second half kickoff.
Here we go. The second half has begun in the UNM v. Hawaii game.
And like that, the Rainbow Warriors burn the Lobo defense again for a large play, as Cordeiro throws a touchdown pass to Zion Bowens for 42-yards. the score is now 20-21 in favor of Hawaii. The Lobos will have the ball, now down, with 13:05 left in the third quarter.
Well, UNM didn't get any drive started and has punted the ball back to Hawaii, with the ball at the Lobo 40-yard line.
And another touchdown for Hawaii, this time to Zion Bowens for 40-yards. UNMs defense is coming back to haunt them as the score is now 20-28 Rainbow Warriors. their is 11:55 lef in the third quarter. UNM will now get the ball back.
Well, the next UNM drive has started off with some promise. We shall see if it continues.
It does continue, as Nathaniel Jones has a 26-yard touchdown run to get the score to 27-28 Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors will have the ball with 9:33 left in the third quarter.
UNM is able to stop a Hawaii drive, and force them to punt the ball back to the Lobos. UNM has the ball at their own 24-yard line with 7:55 left in the third quarter.
Another promising drive for the Lobos stalls again, and although they had a field goal attempt, the field goal was missed and the score remains the same. their is 4:19 left in the third quarter.
Another good play for the Lobo defense, as they were able to force a fumble from Melquise Stovall and now have the ball back at the 50-yard line.
The end of the third quarter has seen the Lobos get to the Hawaii 14-yard line, with an opportunity to take back the lead.
By the way, it's currently raining in New Mexico.... I think that's a sign, but what type of sign is the question.
Anyway, the Lobos are unable to score a touchdown on their most recient drive, but another field goal has given them a 30-28 lead with 13:31 left in the game. However, Hawaii now has a chance to score again.
Another big play for the Rainbow Warriors has given them a 30-36 lead (Cordeiro pass complete to Calvin Turner for 64-yards + two point conversion). UNM will get the ball back with 12:19 left in the game.
UNM has another bad drive, after which they are forced to punt the ball back to the Rainbow Warriors, with 9:53 left in the game.
A stop by the Lobo defense forces a field goal attempt by Hawaii..... and it's good. the score is now 30-39 in favor of the Rainbow Warriors. UNM will get the ball back with 9:53 left in the game.
Correction, their was 6 min left.
