An open letter for followers of Christ in this cultural moment:

1. Walk the narrow line between conspiracy theory and buying into media hook line and sinker. Lies and deception abound. Be patient, and let the truth be revealed.
2. Do not mourn or despair if your candidate ends up losing this election. God can work even through sinful persons and the evil actions of men to accomplish his perfect purposes. Have faith and be steadfast in hope.
3. Do not rejoice if your candidate ends up winning and wrongly believe that everything will now be okay in the world. There is only one Savior, and neither candidate is He. Be ready to both cheer for and hold your candidate accountable to their promises.
4. Do not harbor hate in your heart for your brothers who voted opposite your convictions. They may be babes in Christ, spiritual infants. They may be deceived by the evil one. Pray for them and look for opportunities to speak the truth to them in love.
5. Commit to regular prayer for whichever leader ultimately assumes power. Pray for their salvation. Pray for a measure of divine wisdom and supernatural guidance. Pray that they use their God-given authority for God’s ultimate glory.
6. Commit to respect and honor those to whom God has granted power, even (especially) if you deem them unworthy of such respect.
7. Continue to bear witness to your Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in this world. Do not let your light stop shining; do not let your lamp go out. Keep boldly living and proclaiming Jesus as the Messiah in public places. How will they believe if they do not hear the gospel?
8. Remember that one day soon Jesus will tear into this realm from heaven and superimpose his rule over all human rule, and every knee will bend to his authority and every tongue confess his sovereignty, to the glory of God the Father.
