HANUMAN’s FIGHT WITH SHRI RAM

Once, Raja Surath of Kashi went to meet Shri Ram in Ayodhya. On the way, he was convinced by Narada to ignore Rishi Vishwamitra in Shri Ram’s court
When Ram saw Surath disregarding Vishwamitra, He was angered and promised to kill Surath by evening.
Surath ran to Narada and sought his help, again. Narada sent him to Mata Anjana, Hanuman Ji’s mother.
She promised to save his life and asked Hanuman to protect him at any cost. Hanuman could not go against his mother.
He advised Surath to stand in River Sarayu and keep on repeating the name of Ram.
Hanuman, then, rushed to Ram and sought a boon-“If anybody is saying Ram naam, then I, with the power of my mace, should be able to save him from any weapon till your name remains on his lips.”
When Ram shot his arrows towards Surath, Hanuman rendered them ineffective with his mace. Furious, Ram decided to end Hanuman’s life.

Hanuman said, “I am only trying to ensure that Rama’s word in the form of the boon remains true. If not, Prabhu’s reputation would be affected”
Vishwamitra was worried as Hanuman’s death in the hands of Rama would make Prabhu give up his life in penance afterwards.
He forgave Surath and requested Rama to recall the arrow.
From that day onwards, Hanuman is still protecting Rama’s Bhakts, even from Prabhu’s own anger.
