I became an American citizen not too long ago. This is the first night I’ve been proud to be American.

Growing up in England, I grew up being told America was the land of the free. For inclusivity, togetherness and pride.

For much of my adult life, when I first entered college, that’s not the America I was told about. That wasn’t the America I was promised.

But tonight. Tonight I understand what it means to be American. What if feels like.

I’m excited for the future of our nation, closing the divide and working together.

I’m ready for us all to come together to build a better and brighter future for everyone under strong, powerful leadership.
