The first thing you need to understand is that there are eight things that all humans desire.
- Health and the preservation of life.
- Food.
- Sleep.
- Money and the things money can buy.
- Life in the hereafter.
- Sexual Gratification,
- The well being of our children.
- A feeling of importance.
Now, I am not here to BS you, and give you bad advice. I have studied and read lots of information about human relations, and communication. Follow these rules, and you are guaranteed to receive a $100+ tip within the next week.
“Vanity of vanities, says Qoheleth, vanity of vanities! All things are vanity!
What profit has man from all the labor which he toils under the sun?
One generation passes and another comes, but the world forever stays.
The sun rises and the sun goes down; then it presses on to the place where it rises.
All speech is labored there is nothing man can say. The eye is not satisfied with seeing nor is the ear filled with hearing.” – Ecclesiastes 1:2-8

I
Become genuinely interested with your passengers

We are interested in others when they are interested in us. This coincides with the golden rule:

“Treat others the way you want to be treated.” –
Humans are all amazing, and an easy way to go about this is to try to find out something interesting about that person.

Try to find common interests that you both have. This will act as a social lubricant, easing the awkwardness in the air, and ultimately increasing your income.
II

Smile

Have you ever heard the phrase "Fake it till' you make it"? Even if every square inch of your body doesn't want you to smile, DO IT ANYWAYS!
This will trick your brain into actually thinking that you are happy, and soon you will find that this gets easier with time. Nobody wants to be friends with a Debbie downer right?

III

A person's name is the most sacred sound in any language
I think this is pretty self-explanatory, but allow me to elaborate. Your name is the first word you learned, it's the sound your mother, friends, relatives, and teachers called you.
When you think you hear someone say your name, and you turn back only to be disappointed. That quick reflex reaction is because of your sacred sound.
Make sure to intentionally mention the customer's name upon arrival and departure, to ensure that the passenger feels welcomed and important.
“What has been, that will be; what has been done, that will be done. Nothing is new under the sun. Even the thing of which we say, "See, this is new!" has already existed in the ages that preceded us.
There is no remembrance of the men of old; nor of those to come will there be any remembrance among those who come after them. ” – Ecclesiastes 1:9-11

IV

Be a good listener, and encourage others to speak about themselves
A person's voice is the most beautiful sound in the world to them. Make sure not to interrupt if somebody is talking. This actually takes quite significant will power to achieve.

When you listen more, and talk less you will learn more about the person, his interests, and dreams.
Conclusion
