What we have now at South Carolina is an untenable situation. We have a head coach who has proven over the last decade he is not a good head coach. He is actually a bad head coach. In any normal situation he may have been fired after 2019, and would definitely be fired after 2020

However, he was hired and given a ridiculous buyout by a Gamecock coaching legend who happens to be our AD. He also appears to not be particularly good at his job.

So if we fired Muschamp, we’d have to rely on a guy who is not good at his job to replace a guy who is really not good at his job. Oh, and if we fired him we would look like a bunch of ridiculous boobs because we’re in the middle of a global pandemic.

So, odds are Tanner is not going to get fired. Therefore Muschamp isn’t going to get fired. Therefore we’re in for some really sloppy, uninspired football for at least two more years.
